I can blame it on
I made several batches of my favorite candy to give away for Christmas. These are addictive and dangerous, but hey, once a year, how bad can they be?
LICORICE CARAMELS:
1 can sweetened condensed milk, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup butter, 1/4 tsp. salt and 1 1/2 cups white corn syrup. Combine in heavy pan. Stir constantly over medium heat until it reaches 244 degrees. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp anise flavoring and 1 tsp. black paste food color. Pour into 9 X 13 pan covered in buttered parchment paper. Let cool to set. Cut and wrap. DELICIOUS!
If you don't want a seat belt extender, do more wrapping than eating of caramels! ENJOY!

I'm sure glad you imported some from California to share! Between the caramels, the fudge, and all the other indulgences I couldn't resist...I'm sure I'd need an extender! Diet starts January 1st!
Thanks for the Christmas present from the Wiscombes. Doug & I have been fighting over the candy, but we've got to get everything eaten by the 1st---our waistlines are "way to obvious". LOve those licorice carmels Susy, just can't get enough of them! Hope you have a Great New Year & a change of address too! Love, Mom
